I’m Ondrej — an emergency medical technician by profession, avid hiker and photographer. And I never dreamed of becoming any of those as a child.
Fifteen years ago one long hike saved and changed my life. I came a long way before I could write these lines. It wasn’t easy, and at times it was neither funny nor enjoyable.
This website reflects not only on that journey, but on the whole story of a neglected child, a burned-out yuppie and a recovered addict, roughly in that order. Not because I need anyone’s sympathy for what happened.
This blog is a living project that draws from the past and transforms my experiences into future directions. It shows how I changed from being carried by circumstances and other people’s judgement into carrying out my own decisions, without needing anyone’s approval. Because I honestly think that a bad start shouldn’t be the whole story. You are invited to have a read.
